EQUI-KIDS is an equine therapy center founded in 1989. Our herd of specialized horses, of varying backgrounds and breeds, brings proven healing to individuals living with disabilities, including children, adults and military service members from across the Hampton Roads region.
EQUI-KIDS serves a variety of individuals living with various disabilities, whether mental, physical, emotional, social or learning disabling conditions. Common diagnoses of those se serve include Down syndrome, autism, spina bifida, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, mental and physical disabilities and attention deficit disorder.
Our EQUI-VETS program is dedicated to serving those who have been impacted by their time serving our nation’s armed services. The program frequently serves veterans suffering from issues such as traumatic brain injury, amputation, post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety. Due to the unique challenges faced by those leaving their military careers and readjusting to civilian life, serving transitioning veterans has been a priority of the EQUI-VETS program since its inception. Services through the EQUI-VETS program are offered to participants and no out-of-pocket cost and are available to all veterans, whether retired, active duty or reservists.
