Besides being married to a Soldier for over 13 years now, who also is a Police Officer when he's not deployed, training or at drill, I've grown up the daughter of a Navy Corpsman, sister to an MP, and grand-daughter of a WWII Veteran that earned a Purple Heart. My other Grandfather helped the Allies as an Italian spy. My entire family tree was planted and watered with the blood of patriots. Because of that deep connection to service, I knew I had to find a way to help catch those that were falling through the cracks, using mental health. From the ones left behind to the ones in the trenches or on shift, I wanted to help. So, over the course of my Graduate education and continuing on, (because we never stop learning) I have been educating myself through books, webinars, night shift ride-a-longs, classes, and just interacting with members of the Military and First Responders communities on a daily basis in order to serve them to the best of my ability. I have over 50 hours worth of CEU's and trainings including those from SAMSHA, Mental Health First Aid, and the Veterans Health Administration in: Suicide Prevention/Interventions, Resiliency, Military Culture, Reintegration Challenges, PTSD, Substance Abuse, Anger Management, Military Ethos, Law Enforcement Culture, Trauma-Informed Care, and Mental Health First Aid for Military Communities.
